Bathroom Redo

Wow, it has been a while since my last post. We have been busy the past few weeks visiting family, redoing our guest bathroom, and going to weddings. The last thing I blogged about was Abe's wedding. The sad thing is that Abe and Lindsay have been married for a month, so that means I have not blogged in a month.

Redoing our guest bathroom was definitely the most time-consuming thing we did this month. We had been intending to do it for quite a while, and we had some extra time this month, so we decided it would be a good time to do it. It had this dark hunter green wallpaper with gold dragonflies. Before I go on I must say that I HATE wallpaper. I know that hate is a strong word and I really don't like to use it that much but this is a situation were the word HATE fits with all caps. While we were taking down the wall paper I told Justin that I would not buy a house with wallpaper ever. We started taking down the wall paper on a Friday night with the help of great friends the Followell's and Sanford's. We could not have done it without their help.

By late Saturday night we had all the wallpaper down and started trying to repair and clean the walls. It was a very long process that we are happy to put behind us. After the wallpaper was removed we painted the wall a dark gray and are accenting the room with purple. We also painted our vanity white and it really look so much better. We updated the faucet and both light fixtures. We also updated our toilet. We did not really plan on doing this, but Justin accidentally broke the old one when putting the tank back on. It worked out for the better though because our new one is pretty cool. It has two flush buttons - one for "liquid" and one for "solid." The liquid button uses less water per flush so it's good for the environment and helps us save money. We ordered a new mirror too, but it has not come in yet. We both love the way the bathroom turned out. Check out our before and afters.

We are still looking for a few small pieces of art work to go on the walls around the vanity, but we are waiting until the mirror comes in.
